True Blood Season 1

I LOVED the Sookie Stackhouse (Southern Vampire) book series by Charlaine Harris and was very hesitant to watch the HBO series True Blood based on the books. Usually I don’t care for movies and shows based on books I love. I feel like they change too much. HOWEVER, HBO did a fantastic job!!! Yes, A LOT is different. They make side characters a much bigger part of the story and although it is the same basic plot there are a few changes. While this would normally make me upset, they did it so well that it fits with the book series perfectly. You can love the books and series separately which is something I feel you rarely come across. The best part and possibly the most impressive is that although I knew what was going to happen I couldn’t stop watching! I watched all 12 episodes in a matter of two days (only because I had to stop to go to work). It is insanely entertaining! I very highly recommend the series if you like the books or are fan of paranormal/vampire romance.

Warning: there is a lot of sex, but the guys are hot so don’t let that deter you 🙂

  1. I can’t wait to watch the series I’ve heard great things, but I’m going to finish all of the books first.

  2. I watched the series in like a week, which is pretty impressive for how little free time I have. But I agree, True Blood is a completely addicting series.

  3. I feel the exact same way about the series. To tell the truth, I think I enjoy the tv series more than the book series which is unheard of in my world! It is one sexy show.

    • I feel that way about the Vampire Diaries (but to be fair I haven’t given the books a real chance). I think I love both the Sookie books and True Blood in different ways. Maybe because of how much more the books have covered.

  4. I LOVE that you can treat the books and the show differently.

They diverge from the books enough, so that you’re REALLY not sure what’s going to happen in the show.

I love that LaFayette and Jason have larger roles.

  5. I have only watched about 6 episodes of the first season but I really liked what they did with the character of Tara. I can see why they needed to change her (otherwise the series would have been lacking) and I enjoy her place in the story. I really need to watch the rest.. I shall do that soon!!

    • I really really liked the first season, but the second season was amazing! I love the things they changed while keeping with the feel of the books 🙂
